Possessing one of the smallest molecular weights of all fruit acids, glycolic peels can easily penetrate the epidermis and produce the most pronounced effect. They diminish hyperpigmentation. They are good keratolytics. They have a pronounced anti-aging effect, and are used to correct hyperpigmentation and post-acne. The main indications for the use of glycolic peels are: superficial and deep cleansings, exfoliation, and thinning of the stratum corneum, but with a progressive thickening of the other epidermal layers of the skin due to collagen proliferation. This peel increases cellular metabolism, increases hydration and dermis density, evens skin tone, corrects age spots, and corrects static wrinkles where shallow wrinkles are produced by aging. Features of the procedure: the peel produces minimum discomfort. It does not cause excessive exfoliation. It is a «socially acceptable» peel.
